Camper Safety Commitment

At Camp Victory, your child's well being is an absolute priority. We are committed to providing an atmosphere that will allow parents to get a good night's rest! You will see in the following safety standard overview that we place high importance on staff training and managing the safety of our facilities.

Our summer staff is carefully selected through a comprehensive screening and interview process. Prior to camp, our staff participates in extensive training detailing important safety measures needed to provide your child with a safe and fun camp experience. Our facilities and equipment are maintained throughout the year and are continuously tested, maintained, and certified by outside organizations such as the American Camping Association.

Our commitment is always to safety first. We provide a loving environment equipped to take care of your child's needs. We look forward to serving your family with excellence this summer!

Safety First: The job of every staff member is to create an environment that manages a child's physical, emotional, and spiritual safety.

Fun: After we have provided for a child's health and welfare, we want to create memories they will never forget. Our goal is to enhance the joy in their life in creative, fresh and kid-friendly ways.

Spiritual: A camper's spiritual growth is an important part of Camp Victory's mission. We understand that if a child isn't safe or enjoying their camp experience, we will lose the opportunity to invest in their faith and character.

Cabins are all equipped with heat and A/C, fire alarms and extinguishers. Counselors and staff are trained in procedures in cases of fire and other emergencies.

Carefully selected and Trained Staff

Each year we recruit over 50 college students. Most have worked with us in previous summers or have been trained in our leadership camp programs. Many of our staff are older camp alumni who return year after year.

Once selected for employment, staff are required to attend ten days of training at camp. This is a probationary period. If we do not feel completely confident in the person's ability to be an outstanding role model and caregiver to your child, we will not allow them to continue.

Our cabins are mini communities of staff and campers. Your child will stay with the same team of counselors and campers for the entire week. They will play together, eat together, learn together and grow together. Cabins are a mix of personalities and skill sets.

We do our best to provide counselors and leaders with different personalities and backgrounds in hopes that your camper will find a role model to match their temperament.

Accountability. Because we work in teams, we avoid situations where campers are left alone with any one person/counselor. Our staff is trained to prohibit any person at camp from being in a private situation with any camper. This is a built-in check and balance system.

All staff receive performance reviews and in-service training during the summer. Leadership meet regularly to discuss and review leadership concepts so they are properly trained.

Camp Victory is an American Camping Association accredited camp. ACA is an independent standard setting organization for the camping industry. Our camp is visited and reviewed by ACA representatives.

Basic camper protection is part of our daily ritual. We make sure campers are hydrated and sunblock application is a priority throughout the day. Counselors encourage campers to drink water at each meal and carry water bottles throughout the day. Hand-washing and daily hygiene work to fight the spread of illness.

Trained Red Cross Lifeguards are present at every water activity. All campers are required to use a life jacket when participating in water activities.

During the summer we have a Registered Nurse on duty 24 hours a day.

Camp Victory's medical protocols are administered by a Mayo Clinic physician that specializes in family medicine. The administering physician oversees the nurses who act each week as our health practitioners. Medications are dispensed in our health center and are kept in locked cabinets.

Camp Victory is located 25 minutes from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN which provides a Level I trauma center that can handle all emergencies.

Ropes - Our ropes course and ropes equipment are inspected and certified annually by a member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology.

Water - Trained Red Cross lifeguards are present at every water activity. All campers are required to use a life jacket when participating in water activities.

Mountain boarding – helmets, knee pads and wrist guards are all required when mountain boarding.
