GENERAL INFORMATION
FOOD SERVICE:
Meal Times
Due to the time requirement for meal preparation, clearing and resetting the dining hall, please use the following meal times when planning your schedule: Breakfast – 8:00 AM, Lunch – 12:00 PM, Dinner – 6:00 PM. Your cooperation is especially appreciated by our food service staff in encouraging your group to arrive a few minutes early to the dining hall for meals. This will allow us to open the dining hall doors at the designated time and serve your group promptly.
Snacks
Snacks may be served by request at an additional charge. Please check your contract to see if it is included. You are also free to provide your own snacks.
Coffee Service
Freshly brewed coffee and hot water for tea and hot chocolate are always available to your group throughout the day in the dining hall.
REGISTRATION: When you arrive, please stop in the office and check-in with your host. The office is the first visible building on the left. If you plan to arrive after 10:00 PM, please inform the camp office as to your approximate arrival time.
ORIENTATION: Please allow your Camp Victory Host to greet your group during your first session. We need just a few moments to extend a friendly welcome and provide some helpful information for your stay.
MEDICAL TREATMENT
Insurance Coverage: Camp Victory carries excess medical coverage. This means that any medical bill resulting from injury to a camper must first be submitted to the patient’s health carrier. Illness treated while at camp must be covered by the patient. Camp Victory does not have a nurse on duty, but a clinic and a hospital are available in Rochester for emergencies.
Emergencies: If an emergency arises, please do not call “911”, but communicate with camp host or camp staff first. They will call local first Responders and EMT’s.
First Aid: Camp Victory assumes no responsibility for medical treatment. Your group must have an individual who will be responsible for those who may require first-aid treatment. We suggest you bring a well-stocked first-aid kit.
PHONE: The Camp Victory phone number is 507-843-2329. Winter and spring office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM and on Saturdays for limited hours when retreats are in session. Long distance calls may be made by using a calling card or by placing a collect call.
FINANCES: All fees and expenses are to be paid at the end of your event, or your group will be billed within five days.
YOUTH RETREATS: Adequate supervision for youth retreats is essential. We have found the following extremely helpful in planning our own programmed retreats.
Group Leader
This person works directly with our Guest Group Coordinator and camp host/hostess. It is this person’s responsibility to oversee the group’s program and enforce both our guidelines and the group’s own conduct code. It is best for this person not to serve in any other role (such as counselor or speaker).
Lead Counselors
The role of the Lead Counselor is to assist the Group Leader in the area of guidelines. We suggest two lead counselors, one for the boys and one for the girls.
Counselors
Counselors are responsible for the leadership and well-being of a cabin group. Counselors should demonstrate leadership skills, and preferably have some previous camping experience. There must be an adequate ratio of counselors to campers. Your group must have at least one counselor for every ten campers (1:10). This is a minimum.
WHAT TO BRING:
Clothing: Bring clothes that are casual and suitable for the season. There
are many outside activities, so plan accordingly.
Bedding: Please bring your own towels, pillow, sleeping bag and/or
sheets (queen fits everything), and at least two blankets.
Personal: Towels, washcloth, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and paste, Bible, notebook and pencil, camera, and sports equipment if you wish.
Spending Money: You may want to bring extra spending money for our pop machines, extra snacks, and our gift shop items.
